Flash your Firefox OS Device without Fuss
Few months back Geeksphone had launched their Firefox OS Developer preview devices Keon & Peak. Since these were for developing and testing purposes regularly software updates land on the device depending on the user’s settings(daily, weekly or monthly). Sometimes many of us manually wants to flash the ROM with the image .
The steps needed are pretty simple.
1)First make sure that your device is atleast 50% charged.
2)Download the USB drivers for the Firefox OS device from below link & unzip in a folder. You may need it later.
3)Download the image for Keon or Peak from geeksphone site & unzip it. Make sure that you are downloading the correct image otherwise your device may stop functioning. At the writing of this article stable version available on Geeksphone site is is 1.0.
4)Now enable the Remote Debugging mode in device. For how to enable it refer one of our previous post.
5)Now connect the device via USB cable to computer. If it is first time then windows may search for device drivers & if its not found then install them manually.
6)Navigate to the downloaded image folder and execute the “adb devices” command. This will check whether your device is connected properly or not.
7)Finally execute the flash script. The flash.bat,flash.sh and flash_mac.sh are for Windows,Linux & Mac respectively. After completing the flashing press any key and your device will reboot with the new image.
If you get stuck anywhere or facing any issues you can always ask in Geeksphone forum .
