If you are a developer and own a Firefox OS device’s Keon or Peak then while playing you may have tried to restore the device to the default factory settings. Since Firefox OS is a relatively new technology its still under development & many features are yet to be implemented.
Jared Wein from the Firefox team demonstrated a simple hack using which one can backup & restore one’s contact’s on the Firefox OS device using Android Debug Bridge (ADB). For this a USB cable is needed for connecting the device to the computer.
The steps to be followed are
1)Open up the Firefox OS device & select settings.
2) Now select Device information
3)Select More Information
4) Select Developer option
5)Now check the Remote Debugging option. This is for transferring the data to & from the device with the help of ADB tool.
6) Now connect the device via USB cable and you are ready to dive into hacking. To check whether the device is connected properly or not issue the following command in the Terminal or Command prompt.
This will list the devices connected to the computer.
7)For pulling the indexed contact database issue following command. This will backup the database in the current working directory.
adb pull /data/local/indexedDB/chrome/3406066227csotncta.sqlite"
8)Now if you wish to restore the contacts on your device just follow the steps till 6th & instead of pull command use for transferring the database file back into the device.
"adb push 3406066227csotncta.sqlite /data/local/indexedDB/chrome/3406066227csotncta.sqlite"
Using these simple steps you can easily backup & restore the contacts on your FirefoxOS device.
